Limited Edition ‘Beyond the court’ Hand Painted Basketball
Created to Spark Pride and Conversation
When I created these hand-painted basketballs, I wanted them to be more than just art, I wanted them to tell a story that lives on the court and beyond it.
The Aboriginal Flag and Torres Strait Islander Flag sit alongside the Australian Flag, wrapped in gold and green to symbolise Australia’s spirit. Together, they speak of identity, unity, and respect. For me, painting these flags onto a basketball is about showing how culture and sport are both languages we all understand, languages that bring people together.
Sport has always been a powerful connector. It’s where we celebrate resilience, teamwork, and shared pride. By painting these balls, I wanted to spark conversations: What does it mean to be part of Australia’s story? How do we acknowledge the past while creating a stronger future together?
Displayed at the Hilton Double tree from 15th September – 15th of December and the Inner West Art Fair 17th -19th of October, each ball represents more than colour and design, it represents our shared journey as a nation, the strength of First Nations culture, and the hope that through storytelling we can continue to connect, heal, and move forward together.
